What Is Oppo’s AMOLED Display?

The curved or flat OLED screen on Oppo Find X and Reno series — and what it means for repair.

Definition: Oppo’s flagship phones (Find X series, Reno 10 Pro+) use AMOLED displays — the same underlying technology as Samsung’s screens. The Find X series in particular uses curved-edge AMOLED panels where the screen wraps around the side edges of the phone, creating a near-bezel-less look.

Why curved AMOLED is harder to repair

Flat AMOLED panels are applied to the phone frame using heat-activated OCA (Optically Clear Adhesive). Curved AMOLED panels require a different adhesive profile and must be bonded with precisely controlled pressure and heat to avoid lifting at the edges. An incorrectly bonded curved screen develops lifting or separation within weeks — especially noticeable in Singapore’s humidity. Low-quality curved replacements also frequently develop touch dead zones near the edges where the digitiser doesn’t make full contact.

Common Oppo AMOLED faults

Green line on screen: A vertical coloured line indicates display driver IC damage — worsens over time and requires panel replacement.

Screen burn-in: Static content (navigation bar) permanently etches into AMOLED pixels over extended use. Irreversible without screen replacement.

Edge touch unresponsive: On curved models, a poorly-fitted replacement screen causes dead zones at the curved edges.
