What Is Fluid AMOLED (120Hz)?
OnePlus’s high-refresh AMOLED display — and why budget replacement screens drop to 60Hz.
Definition: Fluid AMOLED is OnePlus’s branding for its high-refresh-rate AMOLED display, introduced on the OnePlus 8 Pro (2020). It delivers a 120Hz refresh rate — making scrolling, animations, and gaming significantly smoother than standard 60Hz displays. Newer OnePlus flagships (11, 12) use LTPO AMOLED with adaptive 1–120Hz, similar to Apple’s ProMotion.
Why it matters for screen repair
A standard 60Hz AMOLED replacement panel will physically fit and display an image on a OnePlus 8 Pro or later — but it cannot support 120Hz. The phone’s display driver will detect the lower-spec panel and lock to 60Hz. The difference is immediately noticeable when scrolling — the smooth, fluid motion that defines the Fluid AMOLED experience is replaced by comparatively choppy movement. PhoneDoctor sources 120Hz-compatible OEM-grade panels for all applicable OnePlus screen repairs.
